White-Breasted Nuthatch

White-Breasted Nuthatches are fairly common on the Plateau and occasional visitors to the property in the late fall-winter months.

Description from the Kaufman Focus Guide: "All white face and chest, set off by narrow black (or dark gray) crown stripe. Can show much orange brown on lower belly. Voice: nasal notes , slow yaank, yaank, and fast wahwahwahwahwah."

11/8/07 White-Breasted Nuthatch (Sitta carolinensis), on the cement block base of one of the bird feeders. They like to feed on sunflower seeds and suet.
