Checkered White

These Whites are common in the West and visit our property regularly every spring-fall. Mustards are their larval food plant.


8/1/10 Checkered White (Pontia protodice). This one's a male, which are mostly white, and with lighter gray markings than the females.  

8/1/10 Female Checkered White on a Prairie Coneflower bloom (Echinacea).
