6/3/12 California Quails (Callipepla californica).
I love, love, love our native quail! We have 2-3 coveys living in the chaparral stands on the property that are resident year-round. Like clockwork, they come twice a day (morning & late afternoon) to eat the birdseed on the ground underneath the bird feeders. This shot is of a mom and dad with four of their cute little chicks.
3/2/12 A covey of California Quail, eating birdseed that I had thrown out on the ground.
3/30/12 What a handsome boy.
